Artists from the 11 First Nations

“KAPAU” is an Innu word meaning “Disembark!” During the first major encounters with non-native peoples on their lands, the native inhabitants cried “Kapau! Kapau!” at the ships to encourage the visitors to come and trade with them. The Galerie d’art des Premières Nations Kapau is a First People’s art gallery, a place that allows visitors to travel into our history through the immense talent of our artists, who come from the 11 First Nations in Quebec. Be prepared to take a trip into an authentic world of art whose existence has spanned thousands of years.
