A historic visit to the Innu

The mission of the Shaputuan Museum of Uashat, which opened in 1998, is to share Innu culture and to facilitate dialogue between Indigenous and non- Indigenous peoples. This goal is achieved through intercultural exchanges and actions intended for young students in all schools. The museum houses a permanent exhibit entitled The Progress of the Seasons in Innu Territory, which focuses on the traditional life of the Innu through the seasons, as well as someone hundred objects bearing witness to the past. The Innu Tshitshuk summer solstice, which takes place on June 21st, is among its most popular activities
